Guest Speaker: Elizabeth De Croos, presenting ‘Simply Beautiful Quilting’
Quilting is something Elizabeth was always drawn to, even though there were no quilters in her family. Her first teachers were library books. Elizabeth’s quilting style is kind of traditional, and she enjoys trying new techniques and making modern things as well.
Pojagi (Bojagi) is something Elizabeth learned as an adult. In 2009 in South Korea, she ended up in a traditional Korean sewing class almost by accident. Elizabeth loved the class and learning all the hand-sewing techniques for making wrapping cloths (pojagi) and other items made with these techniques. When she returned to Canada, she didn’t have the same access to Korean fabrics and threads and wanted to mimic some of the traditional hand-sewing techniques on a sewing machine. She developed the simple method for sewing a reversible patchwork seam. She now uses this technique to make window hangings that look like stained glass, as well as other reversible patchwork items.
Everyone can add joy to their lives by making beautiful things to use everyday. Joy comes from both the process of making and again by using the things that you have made.

Arrive early (after 6:45 pm) to check out our Book Library, Community Outreach Projects, Sharing Table and to catch up with friends. Remember to return any books that you have signed out and are no longer using.
Check out the Community Outreach Projects in progress. Kits will be available to pick up.
Do you have quilt related items that you no longer need? Bring them to the meeting and drop them off at the Sharing Table. Items dropped off almost always find new homes with other members. Remember to pick up any at the end of the meeting that have not been re-homed.
Have a friend who quilts, is looking for inspiration, or who would love to learn – bring them along as a guest. Everyone is Welcome!!!
